Hi, I’m Mike. I started Smart Home Science because I was frustrated with the state of smart-home content online—listicles that rank products nobody tested, “best of” lists that change with the affiliate commission, and guides that assume you already know what Zigbee is.

This site is the antidote. Every review is based on hands-on testing. Every guide is written so a non-technical reader can follow along. And every recommendation is one I’d give to a friend.

What we don’t do

Regurgitate press releases or spec sheets.
Publish “top 10” lists assembled from Amazon reviews.
Accept payment for favorable coverage.
Recommend products we haven’t used ourselves.

How we work

Hands-on testing

Every product lives in a real home for at least two weeks before we write a word.

Plain language

If your neighbor wouldn’t understand the sentence, we rewrite it.

Transparent affiliates

We use affiliate links and always disclose them. They never influence our verdict.

AI-assisted, human-edited

We use AI tools to help draft and research. A human reviews and fact-checks every published word.

Editorial honesty
